Construction Process

There are literally 100’s of companies providing civil construction services. But the question remains as to how many follow the correct procedures. Following images show a detailed construction methodology.

Site Marking

The site shall be completely cleared, cleaned & levelled. Footing sizes are clearly marked for excavation.

Excavation and Column Marking

After excavation, the centre line of the columns are transferred inside the pits & marked. This marking ensures that the variation in the column position is less than 1” variation.

Footing Shuttering and Moisture Prevention

Shuttering is done for the footings which ensures that no contact is made from the concrete to the soil. This prevents moisture absorption from the concrete which ensures that the strength remains as per the design. Though there is a significant cost impact, this is a highly recommended procedure in the longevity of the building.

Sump Tank Plastering and Tiling

Sump tanks are plastered inside & outside for extra safety. Internally, tiling is done to reduce water contamination.

Size Stone Masonry (SSM) for Soil Containment

Size Stone masonry (SSM) is done along the building periphery with intermediate walls. This helps in containing the soil & prevent soil collapse in the ground floor.

Anti-Termite Treatment

Last stage of the anti-termite treatment.

Plinth Beam Shuttering

Plinth beam shuttering is done

Soil Compaction and Refilling

Soil compaction is done to prevent future soil collapse. Soil refilling is done in layers of 1’ and finally machine compacted.

Base Preparation with Concrete Filling

After compaction, 1:4:8 concrete is filled as a base preparation.

Wall Construction and Stability Measures

Wall construction is done to a maximum of 3’ only in a day to prevent plastering cracks. Concrete bands are provided at intervals to improve stability & prevent cracks.

Aesthetic and Structural Staircase Design

Folded plate staircases increase the aesthetic value.

Double Height Support with Jack Centering

Double heights are supported with jack centering for stability.

Sheet Centering and Plastering

Centering is done with mat on top to improve plastering.

Steel Reinforcement Verification

Steel reinforcements as per the structural drawings released and will be cross verified by the structural engineer, before concreting.

Concreting and Curing Process

After concreting, 14 days curing without any material movement which may hamper the curing process.

Internal and External Plastering

Internal & external plastering with 2 coats of putty application for internal walls and one coat of primer for the external walls.

Waterproofing and Sloped Screed Concrete

Waterproofing compound application finished with 3” sloped screed concrete.

Tile Installation and Flooring Protection

Tiles are fixed with “Grip” system to ensure uniform laying. Safety mats are installed to prevent damages to flooring.
